Holly Hunter is a well-known American actress as well as producer and director. Her work has been recognized for movies like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. The actress has received numerous awards for her work which includes an Oscar. She started her career as an actress on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. Since her childhood, she performed Helen Keller in a play in the fifth grade. The fifth grade was the year that after having mumps she lost hearing in the left ear. She did not allow that to stop her. When she was a teenager, she studied drama in the college level and then moved to New York City from Pittsburgh in order to follow her dreams. Hunter was trapped in the elevator of the playwright Beth Henley when she met her. They collaborated to create Broadway Crimes of the Heart which marked Hunter's Broadway debut. After she was settled in Los Angeles, she began looking for roles in films. She landed one as an actress who played the main character in Swing Shift. She has since appeared in a number of movies, television shows as well as movies throughout the span of a 30 year career. Holly Hunter won a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, as well as an award called the Women in Film Lucy Award.
