Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter, an American film and actress, is known for her acclaimed roles in movies such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles. She won several awards including an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. She began her career as an actress on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. From her early years, she has been passionate about performing. She was Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school production. She was born deaf in the one ear after suffering from Mumps, but she didn't allow this handicap to hinder her desire to be an actress. When she was a teenager She studied acting and eventually moved to New York City. After a casual encounter, she was stuck in an elevator alongside playwright Beth Henley and the two collaborated in the play 'The Broadway Crimes of the Heart' which was Hunter's first performance. When she moved to Los Angeles, she began to search for film roles. The role she was offered came as an actress who played the lead character of Swing Shift. Since then, she has appeared in several films, TV series and films over the course of a 30 year career. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and the Women in Film Lucy Award.
